My best friend is coming to see me on her spring break for the second year in a row (eek!). I've been planning our time together and thinking about her last trip here and decided to compile a list. If you're visiting San Diego in the spring time, here are a few of my favorite things to do!
But first... C O F F E E + F L O W E R S
Communal Coffee is THE cutest spot I've found so far. Their drinks are as lovely as the environment and you can shop while you sip. Win-win! My favorite thing on their menu is their Lavendar Honey Latte (with oat milk). The other half of the space is filled with flowers. Wyld Blooms recently moved in and their arrangements and bouquets are stunning. You can even watch them work, which is so fun.
Connected to their outdoor seating is my very favorite, North Park Nursery. I go here often, latte in hand! I'm not sure that I've ever walked away without a new plant. Their selection is hard to beat and the owner is so knowledgeable and friendly. It's really such a treat to wander around their indoor and outdoor space. They often have events from Makers Markets to Succulent Workshops.
While you're in North Park, check out the cutest pizza place- Tribute Pizza- located in a renovated post office. Tasty + aesthetically pleasing= the way to my heart.
The prettiest spot I've found so far would have to be Torrey Pines. You can park at the bottom, by the beach and hike to the top (it's not so much a hike as it is a steep incline walk on a paved road) or you can drive to the top and walk out a ways to the view. Note: it's $15 to get in and park, so try to park on the street before you get to the entrance! Take a picnic lunch or snack- you'll want to stay for a while. There's several little pats you can take to get different views.
One of my favorite spots for lunch is The Fish Market. Located right next to the USS Midway and Unconditional Surrender statue, it's walking distance to many spots downtown and over looks the water with a view of Coronado. Their crab cakes are award winning and I order them every time I go!
My very favorite dinner spot, and possibly the most well design restaurant I've ever been to is Ironside. It's known for it's fresh caught seafood and intimate atmosphere. Their lobster rolls are heavenly, but of course- I order their crab cakes. Your bill is attached to a wooden postcard which is the perfect keepsake because you will not want to forget your dinner there.
If you're still hungry or need some dessert, go to Soda + Swine. The atmosphere is so fun and you can walk around the shops at Liberty Station or see a movie at The Lot after you eat.
Of course, if you're in San Diego you MUST visit the beach. My very favorite is in Coronado, but that's also walking distance from my home. On the rare occasion that I drive to the beach, it would have to be in Pacific Beach by the pier. You can take the best pictures on the pier and below with shops and restaurants in walking distance. The boardwalk along the beach (at both spots) is fun to walk or bike!
